        Surabaya city of Heroes. Who dares to doubt that reputation? Who can possibly felt dubious about role of Surabaya and its people in the struggle for independence of the Republic of Indonesia? Events of 10 November 1945, a struggle for the soul and body of evidence arek-arek Surabaya fight for indepence against the Allies, England which came with the Netherlands. Their struggle earning wide respects as  National Heroes Day, which is celebrated annually by the peoples of Indonesia. The existence of the battle which claimed the lives of thousands of people from both the sides, making the city of Surabaya have the various landmark memorial high historical value, which is also attractive to be your tourism destination. Here are some options heroism landmarks, which can be used as an alternative for you to travel to Surabaya ;

HOTEL MAJAPAHIT (HOTEL ORANJE/ HOTEL YAMATO)
        Although known as a classy hotel Surabaya, Hotel Majapahit, or in 1945 named Yamato Hotel or Hotel Oranje, this hotel has an extremely important role in Indonesia poeple's struggle to meintain indepence. The hotel is a silent witness to a historical incident, which is widely known as the 'flag incident'. At the time, 19 September 1945, the youth Surabaya, suddenly ignited his emotions, when see the Dutch flag was hoisted on top of one the hotel tower. The youth was the climb the hotel building, and ripped blue in the Netherlands flag and turn it into red and white, like the flag of the Republic of Indonesia.
        Until now the hotel with art deco style of architecture which is build in 1910, still looks graceful standing in the same location, when the young man shows his struggle against Dutch colonialism. The hotelis located at Tunjungan Streets no. 65 Surabaya, it also provide special tour packages that commemorate the Incident. In the tour package you will be accompanied by a tour guide, who will guide you around and explain the history of the hotel, the hotel's historic places and events. If the number of participants is not much, you have the possibility to go to the roof where the events 'flag incident' occirred. The tour usually lasts for 15-20 minutes in the afternoon. The tour cost around Rp 65.000 for each people and you will be presented with an Indonesian-Dutch snack at cafe 1910.
